In a historic move, the leaders of the ruling party, Han Dong-hoon, and the opposition party, Lee Jae-myung, are set to engage in a crucial bipartisan meeting to discuss pressing issues such as the “Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Law” and the “Providing 250,000 won per Citizen Law.” The meeting, which will take place in the parliament, will also address the abolition of the financial investment income tax and potentially touch on resolving the ongoing medical crisis due to the prolonged legislative dispute.
This unprecedented meeting signifies a step towards cooperation between the two parties, as they deliberate on political reform measures and other pertinent issues. Notably, the meeting will exclude the chairs of each party’s policy committee and senior spokespersons, lasting for a total of 90 minutes with private discussions following brief public statements.
With both party leaders coming together for an official dialogue for the first time, the outcomes of this meeting could signal a new era of collaboration and progress in South Korea’s political landscape.
