Devastating floods and heavy rains have taken a toll on Al-Hudaydah province in Yemen, with the death toll rising to 84 and 25 injuries reported since the start of August, as per Saba News Agency. The northern entry point of Al-Hudaydah city has been hit hard, with floods engulfing hundreds of homes, causing extensive damage to infrastructure and agricultural lands, and sweeping away city roads.
These flash floods, triggered by seasonal rains, have affected over 250,000 displaced individuals in Yemen since July, leading to a grim situation. The long-standing conflict between the Yemeni government and Iran-backed Houthis has further worsened the already dire conditions in the country, damaging crucial infrastructure and healthcare facilities.
With such devastation and loss of life, urgent humanitarian assistance is crucial to mitigate the impact of the floods and alleviate the suffering of the affected population.
Let’s stand together in solidarity with the people of Yemen during these challenging times.
