UNDP Boosts State Human Rights Commission’s Mobility with Motorcycle Donation in Jonglei State
UNDP has generously donated two motorcycles to the State Human Rights Commission in Bor, the capital of Jonglei State. The aim of this donation is to support the commission in investigating and responding to human rights violations more effectively throughout the state.
Peruth Karungi, UNDP’s Security Specialist for Access to Justice, Security, and Human Rights Strengthening Program in Jonglei, confirmed that the motorcycles were funded by the Netherlands. Lack of mobility has been a significant challenge for the commission in carrying out its crucial work, particularly in reaching remote areas.
Wilfred Gitere, Rule of Law Officer at UNDP in Jonglei State, highlighted the importance of this initiative in enabling the commission to better serve communities and intervene in human rights issues. Simon Manyok Deng, the Jonglei State Human Rights Advisor, expressed gratitude for UNDP’s consistent support in promoting access to justice and human rights.
By providing essential resources like motorcycles, UNDP is empowering the State Human Rights Commission to reach more individuals in need and make a meaningful impact in Jonglei State.
