Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Meets JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to seek his support amid tensions between the government and the main opposition party, PTI. Shehbaz urged Rehman not to participate in any agitation campaign against the government and assured him that his grievances would be addressed. This meeting followed visits by President Asif Ali Zardari and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to Rehman’s residence earlier in the week.
Meetings between PTI leaders and Rehman also took place, with PTI leader Zain Qureshi revealing that Rehman requested two Senate seats from PTI. These discussions occurred in the lead up to PTI’s planned public meeting in Islamabad on Sept 8 and amidst terrorism concerns in Balochistan, where JUI-F holds influence.
The meetings carried significance as speculation arose about key legislation being tabled in upcoming parliamentary sessions. The discussions between Shehbaz and Rehman centered on the country’s political situation, as both sides expressed warm sentiments and goodwill towards each other.
