India’s Jaishankar declares end to ceaseless talks with Pakistan era.

India’s Minister for External Affairs, S. Jaishanker, has stated that India will respond positively to signals from Pakistan and react accordingly to any adverse actions from across the border. This adds suspense to the invitation Pakistan has sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit hosted in Islamabad on Oct 15-16.

During a private event in Delhi, Mr. Jaishanker mentioned that “actions have consequences”, indicating a shift in India’s Pakistan policy. While acknowledging the invitation, India’s foreign ministry spokesman had no update on Delhi’s response. Mr. Jaishanker emphasized that the era of uninterrupted dialogue with Pakistan is over, but India stands ready to react to developments, whether positive or negative.

India’s relations with its neighbors are facing challenges, with border disputes and diplomatic issues. Mr. Jaishanker’s remarks come at a critical time when India’s ties with neighboring countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Nepal, and Pakistan are under scrutiny.

Overall, these developments suggest a dynamic and evolving regional landscape that India must navigate strategically.
