France responds to UAE’s decision on fighter jets purchase

The French Ministry of Defense has refuted claims circulating on social media about the UAE’s decision to oppose the purchase of 80 fighter jets following the arrest of Telegram CEO, Pavel Durov, in France.

Earlier reports suggested that Abu Dhabi had halted the fighter jet agreement with Paris in response to Durov’s arrest.

Avia.pro stated that the UAE was considering a complete blockade of military-technical cooperation with France due to Durov’s detention in Paris.

Additionally, EADaily reported that the UAE Foreign Ministry called on France to provide necessary consular services to Durov, who is a citizen of the UAE.

The Emirati government is closely monitoring the situation and has demanded that France grant Durov the required consular support.

Despite these reports, the French Ministry of Defense maintains that any claims linking Durov’s arrest to the UAE’s decision on fighter jet purchases are unsubstantiated.
