New Report Reveals Job Loss Challenges for Work-Based Residents in Finland
A recent report from Dataroom has highlighted the struggles faced by individuals residing in Finland on work-based residence permits when it comes to job loss. While unemployment among this group is rare, those who do lose their jobs often experience long periods without employment, including highly skilled professionals.
Between 2017 and 2021, the number of employees living in Finland on temporary work-based residence permits increased from 17,000 to 27,000. Despite this growth, around 10% of these workers see their employment contracts end each year without immediately finding a new job, with only 2-3% registering as unemployed jobseekers.
