EU to enhance military aid for Ukraine: Borrell

Exciting news from the EU as they announce plans to increase military support for Ukraine in their conflict with Russia. With a focus on enhancing training missions, the EU aims to equip Ukrainian forces more effectively.

During an informal meeting of EU defense ministers in Brussels, Josep Borrell revealed plans to expand the training of Ukrainian military personnel, exceeding the initial goal of 60,000 trainees. He praised the success of the EU’s training mission as the most successful to date.

Furthermore, discussions are underway to improve coordination with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, potentially establishing a coordination cell in Kyiv. While sending instructors is not in the plans, the creation of a coordination center aims to streamline support and aid delivery, ensuring efficient supply of military resources.

Addressing concerns raised by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba about delays in military supply deliveries, Borrell reassured a review of commitments to guarantee essential support for Ukraine’s defense efforts against Russia.

With Borrell emphasizing the significance of EU assistance for Ukraine’s successful fight, this move signifies a crucial step towards bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
