Ukraine calls on Asian country to detain Putin- RT Russia & Former USSR

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is calling on Mongolia to arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin and hand him over to the International Criminal Court (ICC) during his upcoming visit to the country. However, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov dismissed concerns about Putin’s visit, citing strong relations between Russia and Mongolia.

The ICC has issued a warrant for Putin, accusing him of crimes related to the conflict in Ukraine. Despite this, Moscow denies the allegations and argues that the ICC has no jurisdiction over the matter. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry emphasizes the need for Mongolia to comply with the arrest warrant.

A spokesperson for the ICC highlighted Mongolia’s obligation to follow the court’s regulations. However, certain exemptions under the Rome Statute may apply in this case. The warrant against Putin pertains to actions involving the deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia.

It remains to be seen how Mongolia will handle the situation as Putin’s visit draws near. Keep an eye on the latest developments in this international legal saga.
