MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Swiss Parliament’s Security Policy Committee unanimously rejected a proposal on Friday that aimed to ban the country’s army from participating in NATO exercises related to collective defense.
“The Committee of the Council of Cantons on Security Policy recommends rejecting the proposal to prohibit joint NATO exercises for collective defense,” the document stated.
The senators argued that such cooperation with NATO strengthens the defense capability of the Swiss army and does not compromise the country’s neutrality. They suggested expanding such collaborations.
