Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State advised the newly inducted members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to utilize the orientation programmes to enhance their networking skills. Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch B, Stream 2 NYSC members, Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of the scheme in fostering unity and diversity among youths.
He encouraged the corps members to engage fully in the mentorship and entrepreneurial programmes offered during the orientation exercise under the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) initiative. Sanwo-Olu urged the participants to commit to building valuable relationships, learning how to coexist, and becoming better citizens through their service year.
The Lagos NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa, highlighted the significance of the orientation course in instilling patriotism and upholding national values. She urged the corps members to work towards national development, unity, and collective progress.
The event concluded with the administration of the oath of allegiance and the recognition award presented to outstanding corps members for their remarkable contributions to the community. Obinna Ugwuozor and Amarachi Ogbugo were honored with a cheque of N500,000 each by the Lagos state government.
