Pakistan and Bangladesh Agree to Enhance Cooperation for Progress and Prosperity
In a recent development, Pakistan and Bangladesh have reaffirmed their commitment to working closely together for the progress and prosperity of both nations. This comes after the fall of Hasina Wajid’s government in Bangladesh and the subsequent establishment of an interim government led by Nobel laureate Yunus.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached out to the interim government of Bangladesh, offering aid to address the catastrophic impacts of recent flooding. In a telephone conversation between Yunus and PM Shehbaz, the two leaders discussed the importance of regional cooperation in uplifting the lives of South Asian people.
The PM expressed sympathies over the devastation caused by the floods in Bangladesh and underscored the importance of revitalizing bilateral relations through enhanced cooperation in various domains. He also emphasized the significance of strengthening commercial relations, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people contacts between the two nations.
While historical grievances have strained relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh in the past, the change in leadership in Dhaka is seen as an opportunity for both countries to reengage and foster a closer partnership.
