Foreign nationals who fought for Ukraine will face accountability for their crimes, according to Rodion Miroshnik. Moscow has collected information on thousands of these individuals, branding them mercenaries hired by Kiev. The Russian diplomat claims to have identified over 4,000 mercenaries, with investigations into their activities underway.
Miroshnik alleges that these mercenaries, often described as violent psychopaths, joined the Ukrainian forces to commit crimes such as killing, bullying civilians, and looting. Recently, a 27-year-old mercenary was convicted in the Czech Republic for looting near Kiev. The Russian Defense Ministry has listed countries supplying mercenaries to Ukraine, with Poland, Georgia, and the US among the top contributors.
The ministry also reported over 13,300 mercenaries, with approximately 6,000 casualties among them. It considers these individuals legitimate targets. The Russian Foreign Ministry has criticized the presence of US private military company, Forward Observation Group, on Russian soil and their involvement in the Ukrainian incursion into Kursk Region.
The escalating situation underscores the complexities of the conflict and the international dimensions of the fighting in Ukraine.
