A fire incident broke out in a three-storey building at the Lagos State Government Staff Quarters in the Ogba area of the state. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency confirmed the incident, stating that distress calls were received in the early hours of the morning. The fire originated from a children’s room due to a power surge, affecting one of the flats in the building.
Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities reported, but the children’s bedroom suffered significant damage, resulting in the loss of valuable properties. The prompt response from LASEMA, Nigeria Police Force, and Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service helped contain the fire and prevent further spread.
Efforts were made to educate the residents on the proper use of electrical appliances to prevent future incidents. While the material possessions can be replaced, the safety and well-being of the occupants are top priorities in such emergencies.
