Unaided Private Schools in State Demand Fee Refund for Cancelled NTSE Exam
Private schools in the state are demanding a refund of the fees collected from students for the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) in the 2021-22 academic year, which was later cancelled. The schools claim that a total of Rs 2.66 crore was collected from students for the exam, which was eventually cancelled due to a spike in Covid cases. Three years later, students are still awaiting their fee refunds.
The NTSE, conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) every year, is a prestigious examination for talented students across the country. A representative from a private school management stated that they have approached the department commissioner seeking clarity on the fee refund process and whether the collected amount has been used for any other purposes.
As the issue continues to linger, private schools are pressing the state government to address the matter and provide students with the refunds they are owed. This delay in refunding fees for a cancelled exam has left students and parents frustrated, adding to the challenges faced in the education sector.
