Jan. 6 rioter Anthony Vo sought by law enforcement for evading prison report-80 characters

Law enforcement officials are on the hunt for Anthony Vo, a convicted U.S. Capitol rioter who failed to report to prison and has been missing for weeks. Vo, who was sentenced to nine months in April, was supposed to report to the federal correctional facility in Terre Haute, Indiana, earlier in the summer.

Investigators suspect Vo may be in Canada. Vo’s behavior, both during and after his trial, has garnered more attention. He had been reprimanded for violating release conditions, criticizing the court system, and posting conspiracy theories on social media about the Capitol breach.

Vo, convicted of disorderly conduct in September 2023, was seen inside the Capitol for 27 minutes during the riot, taking photos and shouting “Freedom!” His lack of remorse and defiance against the court system led to a nine-month prison sentence from Judge Tanya Chutkan.

Vo’s whereabouts remain unknown, with no comments from his defense attorney or the Justice Department. His mother, also charged in the Capitol breach, has a court appearance scheduled next month. Several other Jan. 6 defendants have been fugitives since the riot.
