Iran criticizes UK’s hypocrisy on terrorism.

The Dark Side of the UK’s Dual Approach to Terrorism

Iran’s Embassy in London has criticized the United Kingdom’s lenient stance towards anti-Iran terrorists, specifically targeting the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) terrorist group. Despite being recognized as terrorists by the international community, the UK removed the MKO from its list of terrorist organizations in 2008 solely to pressure Iran, according to the embassy.

Furthermore, certain British MPs host the group’s leaders annually, and right-wing newspapers provide them with a platform. The embassy highlighted the double standard, stating that terrorism seems to be tolerated when targeting Iranians but condemned elsewhere.

The condemnation comes on the 43rd anniversary of the MKO’s assassination of Iranian President Mohammad-Ali Rajaei and Prime Minister Mohammad-Javad Bahonar. The group has a history of carrying out terrorist attacks against Iranian civilians and officials, with nearly 12,000 Iranians falling victim to MKO-related acts of terror since the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
