Importation to stabilize food market, bridge hunger gap

The South Sudan government, in partnership with the Ramciel Cooperative Society and B`smart Technology, has received 45 trucks of essential food items to be sold at subsidized prices. National Trade and Industry Minister Joseph Moum Majak announced this initiative in Juba, stating that maize flour, wheat flour, rice, and sugar will be available at designated locations to the public.

The goal of this program is to stabilize the market, provide access to necessary items, and address food insecurity. Despite challenges such as currency shortages and road access issues, the government remains committed to ensuring the success of this initiative before the flood season begins.

Additional support is expected with 30 more trucks of food items arriving from Tanzania. While specific distribution criteria and funding details were not disclosed, B`Smart Technology’s Acting Manager, Mabior Anyang Ajang, emphasized their role in stabilizing the market by supplying all necessary items.
