United States Vice President Kamala Harris firmly rejected the notion of an American arms embargo on Israel in her first interview as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate.
During an exclusive interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, Harris expressed unwavering support for Israel’s right to defend itself amid the ongoing conflict with Gaza, stating, “We would, and how it does so matters.” Although acknowledging the loss of innocent Palestinian lives, Harris emphasized Israel’s right to defense and the urgent need for a ceasefire deal.
Harris reiterated her commitment to a two-state solution and reaffirmed her stance on defending Israel during her acceptance speech at the Democratic Party Convention. Despite criticism, she stands firm on her position, highlighting the importance of Israel’s security and self-defense.
The ongoing conflict and devastating impact on Gaza have sparked international outrage and calls for action, with various groups urging the US government to suspend arms transfers to Israel amid concerns of human rights violations.
As the situation continues to escalate, Harris remains resolute in supporting Israel’s right to self-defense while emphasizing the need for a lasting ceasefire and a resolution to the conflict for the benefit of both parties involved.
