Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi revealed that the recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan were strategically planned to disrupt the upcoming Pakistan-hosted summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in October. The attacks, orchestrated by militants associated with the banned Balochistan Liberation Army, resulted in the deaths of at least 50 individuals, including 14 security personnel.
Despite ongoing tensions, Islamabad extended an invitation to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the SCO meeting. Naqvi emphasized that the attacks were a deliberate conspiracy against the summit, designed to create unrest and chaos.
In response, the government has allocated Rs13 billion for governance and counterterrorism efforts in Balochistan. The minister assured that measures are being taken to address the root causes of the violence and secure the region.
Naqvi underscored the importance of unity and clarity in combating those who threaten the state’s security. He pledged to address differences with stakeholders while firmly dealing with terrorist elements.
As the country braces for the SCO summit, efforts are being made to enhance security and stability in Balochistan to ensure the successful hosting of the international event.
