The 50th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) recently took place in Yaounde, Cameroon. Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov led the Azerbaijani delegation at the session, discussing the normalization process post-Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and Armenia’s hindrance of peace efforts.
Mammadov highlighted Azerbaijan’s commitment to promoting peace and cooperation in the region. He also mentioned Azerbaijan’s upcoming hosting of COP29, emphasizing the country’s dedication to climate action on the global stage.
During the session, Azerbaijan proposed and led the adoption of four resolutions condemning Armenia’s occupation and aggression against Azerbaijan, including the Khojaly Massacre of 1992. The resolutions urge international recognition of the massacre as genocide and express support for the “Justice for Khojaly” campaign.
