While overall murders decreased compared to the previous year, four provinces showed an increase, as highlighted by Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.

The data shared spanned from the last quarter of the previous fiscal year to the first quarter of the current fiscal year, revealing a concerning trend. Mchunu emphasized the need for attention to the rising numbers, especially as sexual offenses also totaled 11,566 cases in the first quarter.
