U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urgently called for an immediate halt to Israel’s extensive military operation in the West Bank. The Secretary-General stressed the need for Israel to abide by international law and prioritize the protection of civilians in a written statement released by his spokesman, Stephane Dujarric.

Israel’s military actions, including airstrikes in the Jenin, Tulkarm, and Tubas governorates of the West Bank, have resulted in casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure. At least 10 Palestinian militants have been reported killed in the operation by the Israeli military.

The United Nations is advocating for the provision of medical care to the injured and the unhindered distribution of humanitarian aid to those in need. The escalating tensions in the occupied West Bank are intensifying the volatile situation and further weakening the Palestinian Authority.
