Saudi Arabia Implements Strict Health Restrictions for 2025 Hajj Pilgrimage
In a move to prioritize the safety and well-being of pilgrims, the Saudi Arabia government has announced stringent health regulations for individuals undertaking the Hajj pilgrimage in 2025.
Based on a health advisory shared with Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs, only individuals who are deemed healthy and fit will be allowed to embark on the pilgrimage, while those with serious medical conditions will be prohibited.
The advisory, issued by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, specifies that pilgrims with kidney, heart, lung, liver, or cancer-related illnesses, as well as those with dementia, infectious diseases like TB, and certain demographics such as children under 12 or pregnant women, will not be permitted to travel.
This decision comes as a response to the challenging weather conditions experienced during the Hajj season in Saudi Arabia.
Additionally, pilgrims will be mandated to receive vaccinations for meningitis, COVID-19, seasonal influenza, and polio as part of the health protocols in place for the pilgrimage.
