Mimiko cautions Aiyedatiwa against expecting Tinubu to rig Ondo election

In the upcoming off-cycle governorship election in Ondo State, Dr. Abass Mimiko, the governorship candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), made it clear that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa should not rely on President Bola Tinubu to manipulate the election in his favor. Mimiko assured the people that vote-buying tactics would not sway the electorate, cautioning against the belief that funds from Tinubu would solely benefit the All Progressives Congress (APC).

During a briefing at the Correspondents’ Chapel of the NUJ Secretariat in Akure, Mimiko, younger brother of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko, emphasized his independence from his brother’s endorsement for victory. He urged voters to choose freely and not succumb to intimidation by the power of incumbency.

Addressing the issue of vote-buying, Mimiko emphasized the need for Ondo residents to avoid being deceived by false promises of election rigging, asserting that Tinubu’s focus is on the nation’s progress. He stressed the importance of assessing candidates based on individual merits, rather than relying on familial ties or previous administrations.
