The European Court of Human Rights has dismissed the claim made by Zdravko and Zoran Mamić regarding an unfair trial in Croatia. The Mamić brothers, along with tax collector Milan Pernar, had filed a complaint alleging a violation of their right to a fair trial in a case involving money from Dinamo.
Following a trial in Osijek, Zdravko Mamić received a six and a half-year prison sentence, Zoran Mamić received four years and two months, and Pernar received three years and two months. Pernar passed away, while the Mamić brothers fled to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The European Court of Human Rights stated that the Mamić brothers’ actions aimed at manipulating the trial undermined the integrity of the judiciary. The court emphasized the importance of upholding high standards of conduct among judges and highlighted the need for impartiality in judicial processes.
The Court condemned the behavior of the parties for attempting to create a “win-win” situation through bribery and manipulation. Ultimately, the European Court of Human Rights found that the actions of the Mamić brothers were an abuse of the human rights protection system and had consequences on the admissibility of their requests.
