The Ningi Emirate Council has begun the process of selecting a new emir following the three-day Fidau prayers for the late emir, Yunusa Muhammadu Danyaya. The Bauchi State Government has instructed the Emirate Council and the kingmakers to initiate the selection process.
The Council, chaired by the Kingmakers, Wazirin Ningi Alhaji Ahmed Shuaibu, has written to the three ruling houses within the emirate, asking interested members of the royal families to apply for the position. The Council will then screen and nominate three candidates to be sent to the state government for approval.
The ruling clans eligible for the throne are Gidan Mallam Hamza, Gidan Abubakar Danmaje, Gidan Usman Danyaya. Among the potential contenders mentioned are Danburam din Ningi Alhaji Yusuf Yunusa Danyaya, Chiroman Ningi Haruna Yunusa Danyaya, and others.
Five princes are being considered, with unofficial reports suggesting they could be strong candidates for the position. The final decision rests with the Governor, who will announce the new Emir once a suitable candidate is approved.
