Delta CP calls on NLC to uphold due process

The Delta Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, has urged the Nigeria Labour Congress to allow due process in the investigation of its president, Comrade Joe Ajaero, who was recently invited by the police over allegations of terrorism involvement. The NLC chapter in Delta held a protest in solidarity with Ajaero, emphasizing their belief in his innocence and denouncing any intimidation attempts.

Commissioner Abaniwonda clarified that the invitation to Ajaero was for an interactive session to aid the investigation and not meant as a threat. He commended the peaceful conduct of the NLC’s protest and assured that the authorities would handle the situation fairly. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr Aina Adesola, reiterated the police’s support for the labor union’s cause and promised a just resolution.

Despite the allegations, the NLC stands firm in its support for Ajaero, asserting that the union will not tolerate any injustice against its members. The solidarity displayed by NLC members in Delta sends a strong message against unfounded accusations and emphasizes the union’s commitment to the welfare of citizens.

By standing united, the NLC aims to protect its integrity and defend its leadership against any false accusations, ensuring that justice prevails in the ongoing investigation.
