Chaos in Argentina as Ruling Party Lawmakers Jump Ship
Amidst the political turmoil in Argentina, yet another member of the ruling party, La Libertad Avanza (LLA), has distanced themselves. Francisco Paoltroni from Formosa was expelled from the party’s Senate bloc, signaling deep divisions within the party. This comes after Congresswoman Lourdes Arrieta’s departure from the Lower House bloc.
Paoltroni’s dismissal was supported by key LLA Senators, with disagreements surfacing over issues like discretionary spending and judicial appointments. The senator criticized President Milei’s handling of funds while neglecting the needs of vulnerable groups.
The situation escalated further with the arrest of a provincial congressman on charges of possessing child pornography, adding to the party’s deteriorating reputation. Security Minister Patricia Bullrich expressed satisfaction over the arrest, vowing justice for such crimes.
