Owner of Tyre Shop Booked for Dengue Larvae Presence

An owner of a tyre shop was recently booked for the presence of dengue larvae during outdoor dengue larvae surveillance in the area. Dengue virus, a mosquito-borne viral disease, has been rapidly spreading worldwide in recent years, transmitted mainly by female mosquitoes of the Aedes species.

Official sources reported that anti-dengue teams found larvae in the tyre workshop located at Kabari Bazaar, leading to a case being registered against the owner, Amanullah. This incident adds to the growing concern of dengue outbreaks in the region.

Recent data from the District Health Authority Rawalpindi revealed that larvae were detected at 8,064 sites during anti-dengue surveillance. Dr Sajjad Mehmood emphasized the importance of active surveillance and public participation in controlling the spread of dengue larvae to prevent future outbreaks.

Efforts are being made by the government to combat this public health threat, with extensive surveillance and preventive measures in place to protect the community against dengue. Together, we can create a safer environment and reduce the risk of dengue infections.
