The Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, announced that the country is preparing for a record-high budget next year, with a significant focus on defense spending. Tusk described the 2025 budget as “generous” and aimed at supporting economic growth.
With 186 billion zlotys ($48.5 billion) allocated for defense, the budget reflects Poland’s commitment to strengthening its security, especially given its proximity to the conflict in Ukraine. Tusk emphasized the necessity of this investment during a news conference, highlighting that Poland’s defense spending in 2024 already accounted for over 4% of its GDP.
Deputy Defense Minister Stanislaw Wziatek revealed that defense spending is expected to increase to 4.7% of GDP next year. This move aligns with Poland’s active role in NATO and the EU, particularly in supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression.
Furthermore, as Poland gears up for economic growth of 3.9% in 2025, it is also making significant purchases of military equipment, collaborating with countries like the U.S. and South Korea.
