The arrest of Amadein Tibiebi, Assistant Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State, by men of Zone 16 of the Nigerian Police has stirred controversy. Tibiebi, an ex-militant, was apprehended for alleged illegal possession of firearms and is currently undergoing interrogation at the Bayelsa State Police Command.The arrest follows a previous incident in November 2021 where one Richard Okon was arrested for the same offence, claiming that the firearms belonged to Tibiebi. Despite this, Tibiebi had managed to avoid consequences by presenting fake licenses and forged documents.
His connections could no longer save him as a fresh petition led to his arrest. Tibiebi, known for boasting about his high-level connections, attempted to sway authorities once again but was unsuccessful.
As the investigation unfolds, allegations of threats to life and misuse of influence have surfaced, shedding light on the power dynamics within the political landscape of Bayelsa State.
