NHA Strives to Improve Toll Tax Collection Rates

The National High Authority (NHA) Chairman Arshad Majeed Mohmand revealed that currently, the NHA only collects 13 percent of toll tax from its highways. He stated this during a briefing to the Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, emphasizing the need for refining processes and implementing short and long-term policies.

Minister Abdul Aleem Khan stressed the importance of eradicating corruption within NHA and suggested considering private sector involvement in toll collection for troubled areas. Setting annual revenue targets was also advised to boost efficiency and income.

The minister highlighted the government’s commitment to improving transportation infrastructure and emphasized the construction of high-quality highways and motorways across the country. He urged NHA to focus on financial stability and self-reliance, aiming to offer expert services globally and generate foreign exchange.

Efforts to construct wider motorways with increased capacity and improved toll collection mechanisms were also discussed during the briefing, with a focus on maintaining axle load rules for road safety.
