A recent network failure at the Dutch Defense Ministry has triggered widespread computer issues throughout the Netherlands. The incident led to the shutdown of Eindhoven Airport and disrupted police communications in the country.
While the cause of the problem remains unspecified, a military network outage was first identified on Tuesday evening. The Dutch National Cybersecurity Center (NCSC) has yet to determine if the disruption was a result of a cyberattack.
The outage impacted various government departments that share the affected network. This led to Eindhoven Airport suspending all flights and forcing some travelers to commute to Brussels, Belgium by bus.
With the Dutch Coast Guard and national police experiencing communication challenges, other critical services like hospitals and the Dutch tax administration have not reported any issues. It is worth noting that last month, a global IT outage occurred due to a flawed security update, affecting millions of systems worldwide.
