Sindh Education Department Cracks Down on Ghost Teachers in Karachi

In a significant move, the Sindh education department has announced plans to terminate school teachers who have been absent from government schools in Karachi. This decision aims to improve education standards and eliminate ghost teachers who receive salaries without fulfilling their duties.

District and Taluka Education Officers have been instructed to compile a final list of absentee teachers within two days. Despite multiple warnings, these teachers have failed to report to their respective officers.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) provided data on teachers residing abroad, some of whom have been receiving salaries for years without working. The joint efforts of the Education Department’s monitoring cell and the FIA helped identify these ghost teachers.

Earlier, eight ghost teachers were terminated for receiving salaries while residing abroad. The Secretary instructed Taluka education officers to identify and report such cases for necessary action.

The Education Department’s crackdown on ghost teachers underscores its commitment to improving the quality of education in Karachi.
