NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg will lead a crucial meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council in response to Kyiv’s request, announced spokeswoman Farah Dakhlallah on Tuesday. The meeting, scheduled at ambassadorial level, will feature a briefing by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov on the battlefield situation and priority capability needs.
Established last year, the NATO-Ukraine Council aims to enhance coordination between the alliance and Kyiv. Attendees typically include ambassadors from NATO member countries and Ukrainian officials. Dakhlallah emphasized that the meeting follows recent heavy Russian strikes targeting Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure.
Notably, Russia intensified missile and drone attacks across numerous Ukrainian regions, claiming at least five lives. This escalation occurred shortly after Moscow’s significant air assault on its neighboring country. In response, NATO Allies have provided substantial air defense support to Ukraine and remain committed to strengthening its overall defenses.
