Lagos closes churches, hotels for breaking environmental laws

In a bold move to uphold environmental regulations, the Lagos State Government recently cracked down on businesses and religious institutions in violation of the State Environmental Laws of 2017. During an operation in the Ojo Local Government Area, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency sealed numerous establishments including churches, hotels, bars, and a recycling company for failing to meet stringent environmental standards.

The General Manager of LASEPA, Babatunde Ajayi, emphasized the agency’s dedication to enforcing environmental compliance across the state. He warned that any establishment found to be non-compliant with the law would face necessary actions. Ajayi called on all businesses to take responsibility for their environmental impact and collaborate with the government to create a cleaner, safer Lagos for all residents.

Among the establishments sealed during the operation were Rockslide Gospel Church, Unique Caesar & Bar, New Yorker Hotel, Jesus International Christian Church, and more. This crackdown serves as a reminder that the Lagos State Government is committed to maintaining a clean and safe environment for all citizens.
