Kyiv relies on new weapon to penetrate Russia, evade Western sanctions

Ukraine has unveiled a new long-range weapon, the Palianytsia, designed to strike deep into Russia without the need for approval from allies. This innovative combination of missile and drone was created as a response to the ongoing wave of Russian bombings targeting Ukrainian infrastructure. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the necessity for unrestricted weapons in the face of Russian aggression.

The Palianytsia, named after a Ukrainian bread, marks a significant technological advancement for Ukraine. With a range of up to 700 kilometers, it has the capability to target key Russian military installations deep within the country. Despite receiving support from Western allies, Ukraine faced restrictions on using long-range missiles in Russia, prompting the development of this new weapon.

The Ukrainian technology minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, described the Palianytsia as a potential game changer, enabling strikes in unexpected locations. The weapon’s development highlights Ukraine’s commitment to innovation and self-reliance in its defense against Russian aggression.

As Ukraine continues to evolve its military capabilities, the introduction of the Palianytsia represents a significant step forward in the country’s ability to defend itself against external threats.
