Israeli Government Plans to Fund Settlers’ Storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque

Amid ongoing incursions by illegal Jewish settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem, Israel’s Heritage Minister is set to allocate $545,000 for the project. The move, reportedly coordinated with extremist Itamar Ben-Gvir, aims to provide police permission for settlers’ funded tours to the mosque.

The Security Minister’s controversial statement, advocating for Jewish prayer at Al-Aqsa and the construction of a synagogue on the site, has added fuel to the fire. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation condemned such actions as a violation of international law and the sanctity of holy places.

These incursions challenge the longstanding status quo at Al-Aqsa, a sacred site in Islam. The situation reflects broader tensions surrounding the Israeli occupation of East Jerusalem and the contentious issue of religious freedom.
