Israeli troops successfully rescued a hostage in southern Gaza, with the military confirming the safe recovery of Qaid Farhan Alkadi. The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) described the operation as complex but ultimately successful, highlighting that Mr. Alkadi’s medical condition is stable.
Mr. Alkadi, a 52-year-old from Rahat, was taken captive by Hamas during an attack on Israel in early October. As an Arab Bedouin minority member working as a guard at a packing factory in Kibbutz Magen, his abduction sparked widespread concern.
The emotional scenes of Mr. Alkadi’s family members rushing to the hospital after learning of his rescue were shown on Israel’s Channel 12. The IDF and intelligence agency Shin Bet collaborated to execute the rescue.
While Hamas still holds around 110 hostages, efforts are ongoing to secure their release through negotiations. The Israeli government has successfully retrieved eight hostages so far, despite facing criticism for not reaching a deal with Hamas sooner.
