A recent study from Poliarquía Consultores has unveiled a significant rise in public trust towards President Javier Milei’s administration in Argentina. The Government Confidence Index (GCI) has surged to 2.54 in August, indicating a 6.8% increase from July after a period of decline. The GCI evaluates sentiments across five crucial dimensions, showcasing improvements in public interest concern, government performance, spending efficiency, officials’ honesty, and problem-solving capabilities.
Men, particularly young adults aged 18 to 29, have shown increased confidence in the government, with older age groups also expressing approval. Rural residents exhibit the highest confidence levels, while those in metropolitan areas are more critical.
The elevated GCI in August signals a positive trend for Milei’s administration following drops in June and July. These figures surpass ratings under previous presidents Macri and Fernández during similar periods. The study methodology involved 1,000 telephone interviews across 44 cities, ensuring a reliable sample with a minimal margin of error.
This surge in public trust not only strengthens the current government but also impacts the upcoming 2025 Senate elections, highlighting the influence of public perception on governance in Argentina.
