Political Party Feud: Minister Accused of Attempting to Grab FDP

A controversy has erupted within the Federal Democratic Party (FDP) as Gen. Gathoth Gatkuoth Hothnyang accuses Minister Gabriel Changson of trying to forcibly take over the party. Hothnyang, also known as Galdong Nyanyiek Bichok, expressed his dismay at the Minister’s group’s actions, likening it to the land grabbing crisis in South Sudan. He challenged Changson to follow proper procedures as FDP is a registered political party, ranking 16 out of 29 recognized by the Political Parties Council.

FDP was founded in 2014 after a split with Dr. Riek Machar’s SPLM-IO, with some members later aligning with Taban Deng Gai and the government. The Minister’s faction, led by Changson, disputes Hothnyang’s leadership claim, citing his 2016 dismissal. Despite the rift, the Changson-led group is still in the process of registering with the PPC.

As tensions rise, the future of FDP hangs in the balance, with legal and political battles looming on the horizon.
