Gujarat Rains: 7 Dead, Over 15,000 Evacuated; Army, NDRF Deployed for Rescue Operations
Heavy showers continue to wreak havoc in Gujarat, with at least seven people dead in rain-related incidents and over 15,000 evacuated. The administration conducted large-scale relief and rescue operations as the state witnessed continuous downpours. While the rain intensity reduced slightly, districts in the Saurashtra region were the most affected.
Six Army columns and multiple NDRF platoons were deployed for rescue efforts, saving over 300 people. The worst affected districts, Vadodara and Panchmahals, saw thousands being relocated to safer places. The state has already evacuated more than 23,870 individuals, including pregnant women.
Vadodara faced severe flooding, disrupting daily life, with water levels crossing the danger mark in the Vishwamitri river. As the state braces for more heavy rainfall, the IMD has predicted isolated extremely heavy downpours in the coming days. With numerous talukas already experiencing over 200 mm rainfall, Gujarat continues to battle the monsoon fury relentlessly.
