Enhancing Agricultural Relations Between Syria and Iraq
In a recent meeting between the Minister of Agriculture in Syria and a delegation from the Iraqi Agriculture Ministry, discussions were held on ways to develop agriculture relations and enhance trade exchange between the two countries. The focus was on achieving integration through the quadripartite agreement between Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon. This agreement aims to enhance trade, unify agricultural systems, establish certificates of origin, and reduce fees for products.
The Syrian minister expressed readiness to cooperate in securing production requirements, confronting climate change, and exchanging expertise in various agricultural areas. The joint Syrian-Iraqi project to address sand and dust storms through desert rehabilitation was also highlighted.
The head of the Iraqi delegation emphasized the historical relations between the two countries and the importance of activating the quadripartite agreement for mutual benefit. This collaboration holds promise for both nations in building a stronger agricultural foundation.
