Rebuilding the South Sudan People’s Liberation Movement: A Call for Unity
At a recent event honoring fallen liberation hero Lt. Gen. Bior Ajang Duot, Secretary General Peter Lam Both of the SPLM Party spoke out against the current leadership. He called for unity within the party and urged deserters to return, highlighting the need for a return to the party’s revolutionary ideals and programs.
Other speakers, including Gen. Garang Mabil and Vice President Rebecca Nyandeng de Mabior, criticized the government’s failure to support veterans and provide essential services to citizens. Lam emphasized the importance of different skills and knowledge in the post-independence phase of development, suggesting that the party’s current struggles are a result of past failures.
Lam challenged the government’s record of resource mismanagement, questioning why progress was not made during years of financial prosperity. He urged a return to the core values of the SPLM, emphasizing the need for loyalty and unity to achieve the dreams of liberation.
As the party faces internal divisions and external challenges, the call for a unified front under the leadership of Comrade Salva Kiir remains crucial for the rebuilding of the SPLM and the advancement of South Sudan.
