Russian kamikaze drone takes out Ukrainian radar station – MOD (VIDEO)

Russian troops recently used a Lancet loitering munition to target a radar station in Ukraine’s Sumy Region, as confirmed by the Defense Ministry. The ST-68 radar station, designed in the USSR in the 1970s, was struck, causing significant damage. The attack left Ukrainian troops “blinded” and the ZALA Lancet drone used reportedly has an effective range of up to 50km.

Previously, Ukraine conducted a cross-border incursion into Russia’s Kursk Region to establish a “security buffer.” Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky claimed that the incursion thwarted a potential Russian offensive towards Sumy. The goals of the operation included strengthening Ukraine’s hand in peace negotiations with Russia, demonstrating military capability, and applying pressure on Moscow.

Reports indicate over 6,200 Ukrainian troops, 73 tanks, and numerous other armored vehicles have been lost in the Kursk offensive. The situation remains tense as both sides continue to engage in conflict.
