The Oyo State Government has announced a 60-day grace period for building owners to regularize their documents, as revealed by the Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Mr Williams Akin-Funmilayo in Ibadan. The initiative, known as Oyo Building Permit Amnesty (OYOBPA), aims to help property owners obtain genuine approval for their buildings. The amnesty period officially began on Monday and will end on Oct. 27, aligning with the state government’s agenda for transformation and sustainable development.
The OYOBPA is designed to improve urban planning, enhance security, and promote safety within the state. Property owners are urged to take advantage of this opportunity to fast-track their building permits through an online process, avoiding touts and middlemen. However, properties illegally built in government acquisition zones, power line zones, setbacks, or involved in financial crimes are not eligible for the amnesty.
