Violence Erupts in Balochistan: Dozens Killed in Attacks
Recent violence in Balochistan province in southwestern Pakistan has left at least 38 people dead in a series of attacks. Armed men stopped multiple buses and trucks, checking passengers’ IDs before shooting 23 individuals and setting vehicles on fire in Musakhail district. In Qalat district, nine people, including police officers and passersby, were shot dead. Additional incidents included the bombing of a railway track in Bolan, an attack on a police station in Mastung, and vehicle burnings in Gwadar city.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for at least one of the attacks, warning people to stay away from highways in the province. The ongoing rebellion in Balochistan, fueled by grievances against the state, has led to armed groups targeting civilians and security personnel alike. Despite government promises to bring the attackers to justice, violence continues to plague the region, with innocent citizens becoming casualties in the conflict.
Efforts are underway to quell the insurgency and restore peace in Balochistan as security forces work to combat rebel fighters and prevent further bloodshed. The provincial government faces mounting pressure to address the escalating violence and ensure the safety of all residents.
