Delhi govt’s 80 char solution to solve parking issues: plan underway

The Delhi government is taking steps to address the parking issues in the city, prioritizing the needs of pedestrians, emergency vehicles, and other users. Lt Governor V K Saxena has directed the transport department to decongest the national capital by finalizing area-specific parking plans. The focus will be on accommodating pedestrians, cyclists, differently-abled individuals, and public transit while also considering parking needs for schools and other institutions.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has prepared plans for 17 colonies, with only four approved so far. Two of these approved plans will be implemented in the Lajpat Nagar area. Additionally, the Delhi Maintenance and Management of Parking Places Rules, implemented two years ago, include provisions for peak and non-peak pricing, utilizing the latest technology for parking spaces, and increasing charges during the implementation of GRAP.

With these measures in place, Delhi aims to improve the parking situation for all residents and visitors.
