Former GROM commander General Roman Polko has criticized the Polish military’s response to recent Russian drone airspace violations, calling the decision not to shoot down the drone due to bad weather “absurd.” Gen. Polko stressed the need for round-the-clock operational readiness, regardless of weather conditions.
Major General Maciej Klisz revealed that a Russian drone penetrated Polish airspace by 25 kilometers, tracked by multiple radar stations ready to take it down. Despite this readiness, no action was taken, prompting a search operation involving 70 soldiers from the Territorial Defence Forces of Chełm and Lublin.
Highlighting the ongoing threat from the east, Lt. Col. Jacek Goryszewski emphasized the need for vigilance and quick responses to potential provocations. Gen. Polko criticized the military’s hesitation in the face of perceived threats, suggesting NATO engage in preemptive actions in Ukraine to establish a security buffer zone.
